Brunello Cucinelli Ignites the World of the Ultimate Explorer

Brunello Cucinelli SS23 Milan Fashion Week collection explores comfort and femininity.

Cashmere, the holy grail of knitwear graced us with its presence yesterday at Milan Fashion week. The Italian couture knitwear brand Brunello Cucinelli showed their SS23 Ready to Wear collection in Milan, known for their innovative luminously coloured Italian cashmere knitwear the brand pulled inspiration from the uniforms of explorers of the past in a collection built on the concept of the ‘female explorer’. Utility, movement and detail are the adjectives best used to describe the silhouettes shown on the runway. Cucinelli focused on ‘fluid tailoring’ combining form-fitting pieces with looser ones for a balanced effect. There are utility pockets on many of the garments, fishing-inspired bucket hats and rubber-soled boots that contrast with the lighter materials of the skirts and dresses. Alongside the expected cashmere the famous fiber is paired with linen, cotton organza, and poplin to balance out the heavier, warmer pieces with ones that are light, airy, and feminine. The result is outdoorsy but elegant.

Color will always be an intergral part of the brand, this season Cucinelli chose to keep their collection earth-toned and neutral playing with dusty rose, pale lavender, and sage for a softer take on color. Crochet dresses and tailored suits were finished off with iridescent sequins and embroidery that do not overwhelm the collection but highlight and add just a touch of elegant sparkle to the looks. The longer you stare the more detail you appreciate.  Finding a must-have element to fall in love with from this collection of wearable, staple pieces that will stand the test of time and fashion is no hardship.
