Italian fashion house Brunello Cucinelli and EssilorLuxottica announce 14 new eyewear styles as a part of a 10-year licensing agreement between the two manufacturers. The launch, which was celebrated at Villa Aurelia in Rome, Italy, includes four eyewear collections with 10 sun and 4 optical styles. The debut festivities saw notable guests like Emma Brooks, Karolina Kurkova, Tamu McPhearson, Leonie Hanne, Toby Huntington Whiteley, Kyra Kennedy and Moritz Hau.

The first of the four eyewear collections, “multmaterico”, includes seven models that combine metal and acetate in a balance of stylistic innovation and traditional workmanship. The second of the main collections takes inspiration from Brunello Cucinelli’s high jewelry line. The feminine silhouettes of the “trama” designs celebrate the elegance and tastefulness that the Cucinelli woman has come to represent. The “stemma” collection is iconic and well-refined.

Embodying the highest manufacturing expertise in the eyewear world, the third collection introduces embedded cores, riveted hinged and custom-made functional metal elements inspired by the medieval coat of arms, a nod to the brand’s roots. The final collection, aptly called “pattern”, highlights the craftsmanship and careful detailing in Brunello Cucinelli’s handmade creations while paying homage to the unmistakable pattern inspired by Solomeo’s coat of arms. Outside of the four principal design collections, the Gemmae style was created for women who embody understated elegance through a sculpted acetate frame and attention to detail in fine construction.

Brunello Cucinelli and EssilorLuxottica achieved significant work together in 2023, and their collaboration has culminated in the release of the house’s first eyewear collection. The collection reinforces the relationship and understanding between the two manufacturers, taking root from the esteem and mutual fondness that brought Brunello Cucinelli and Leonardo Del Vecchio, Luxottica founder, together. This collection sees a gentle friendship blossom into a harmonious partnership focused on research and development.

“The Brunello Cucinelli fashion house has succeeded in creating a new concept of luxury, fueled by respect for labor and its dignity, which represent its true, deepest soul. We are bound by more than just an agreement: Brunello Cucinelli is not only a great entrepreneur but also a friend whom I respect and admire,” remarked Francesco Milleri, Chairman and CEO of EssilorLuxottica. “The collection we helped to create under his and his family’s creative direction expresses all these values, perfectly combining technology and superior craftsmanship.”

The collaboration between Brunello Cucinelli and EssilorLuxottica reinforces a mutual dedication to promoting a culture of beauty as a midpoint between taste and quality Italian craftsmanship that represents “well-made in Italy”.
