BTS Fans Matched the Group’s $1 million Donation for Black Lives Matter
The BTS ARMY proved once again that they can get things done.
Last week, the K-pop superstars BTS announced their solidarity with the Black Lives Matter movement, posting on Twitter that “We stand against racial discrimination. We condemn violence. You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.” The tweet currently has over two million likes, and both fans and outsiders are impressed by their comments. It was also announced by Big Hit Entertainment that the group donated $1 million for the movement in response to Blackout Tuesday, with many companies and people pausing their usual activities to donate and demonstrate their support for Black Lives Matter.
우리는 인종차별에 반대합니다.
우리는 폭력에 반대합니다.
나, 당신, 우리 모두는 존중받을 권리가 있습니다. 함께 하겠습니다.We stand against racial discrimination.
We condemn violence.
You, I and we all have the right to be respected. We will stand together.#BlackLivesMatter— 방탄소년단 (@BTS_twt) June 4, 2020
Following this announcement, the BTS ARMY, the group’s loyal fanbase, began #MatchAMillion so fans can donate to the cause as well. One in an ARMY, a fan-led charity project, created an ActBlue card that allows donors to split their donations among various organizations like Black Lives Matter Global Network, Movement for Black Lives, ColorofChange, and more.
Within 24 hours, One in an ARMY announced on Twitter that almost 35,000 people donated $1 million dollars, stating “It’s really amazing to see so many of you coming together to support #BlackLivesMatter. Thank you so much to everyone who donated, shared, used the hashtag, and helped by any means to make this possible!”
