Burberry Celebrates The Power of Self-Expression Through Their SS22 Campaign
A campaign that is all about togetherness, love and sensuality.
2022 is all about confidence and connection–just ask Burberry. Celebrating the power of self-expression through their Spring/Summer 2022 campaign, Burberry presents the campaign with ideas of duality and identity, while emphasizing the need for fluidity. It’s both playful and spiritual, much like the collection itself, and reminds us about what it means to be renewed, whole and human.
“As we come out of lockdowns around the world, I wanted this campaign to make people feel something, free to dream, free to feel youthful and alive again,” said Burberry chief creative officer, Riccardo Tisci, in a statement. “It is a beautiful dance, a very raw energy that’s powerful and full of life. Like an awakening.”
The campaign is captured from multiple perspectives, with raw studio shots by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and candid, backstage moments by Chris Rhodes, to mesh the photographers’ youthful spirits together. These different perceptions allow the collections to “transfigure in their different viewpoints,” and capture a union of models together to symbolize the freedom of expression, strength and power.
Burberry showcased SS22 back in September, with a message all about the call of the wild, exploring our imagination, and connecting ourselves with the natural landscape. Designed by Tisci, the collection challenges traditional silhouettes by deconstructing and rebuilding their structure in order to give it a youthful and sensual energy. Both menswear and womenswear play with abstract prints and unique collars, such as giving an edgy makeover to the house’s iconic trench coat and Olivia bag, while maintaining Burberry’s minimalist code and British heritage.
