Buy Merch and Gift Therapy with SAD GIRLS CLUB

The Black woman-owned non-profit drops cozy loungewear collection.

Sad Girls Club is a Black woman-owned non-profit organization created to nurture community and curtail stigma around mental health. Founded by Elyse Fox—a New York City-based filmmaker— to focus on providing necessary resources to women of color.

There is a vast disparity in both screening, and accessibility to treatment for mental health issues among women of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, in contrast to their white male and female counterparts. Research continues to show that women of color disproportionately suffer from the types of adverse experiences that can lead to anxiety disorders, depression, and detrimental levels of stress.

Timed with the start of Black History Month, the company has released a collection of unisex loungewear merch. The drop includes crewneck sweaters and sweatpants available in grey or black, embroidered with the name of the collection, “From NY with Love.” For every set sold, group counseling will be provided to 10 SGC members through Soul Sessions—the non-profits effort to promote accessibility to therapy, combat loneliness and rising rates of depression.

The non-profit has previously collaborated with big name brands including Nike and Calvin Klein, taking part in campaigns that enabled them to reach a larger audience and spread awareness. With Nike they held a 5k run and designed free merchandise, later launching a Run Club in partnership with the mega sportswear brand.
