Canada Goose Announce New Fleece Collection and Release 2021 Environmental, Social, and Governance Report
The Canadian company is working towards becoming more sustainable.
On April 21, Canada Goose releases its 2021 Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Report. This report highlights the company’s progress towards its Sustainable Impact Strategy. The strategy outlines ways the company wants to become more environmentally friendly and lessen its impact on the planet.
The Sustainable Impact Strategy separates the company’s goals into two categories: materials and manufacturing and operations. For the materials category, Canada Goose has already achieved certification under the Responsible Down Standard, and stopped purchasing fur. The company has nearly completed its bluesign certification, switched to 60% sustainable solutions for packaging, and is committed to discounting the use of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances. For the manufacturing and operations category, Canada Goose is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2025 or sooner, and has achieved carbon neutrality for company operations.
While the steps towards sustainability that Canada Goose has made so far are impressive, the 2021 ESG report shows they’re not stopping any time soon. The report shows that the brand has fulfilled its commitments to becoming more sustainable, and continues to work on issues regarding materials, chemicals, greenhouse gas emission reductions, supply chain, and human and labor rights.
To celebrate their progress, Canada Goose releases a new fleece collection that follows its new sustainable principles. Kind fleece is the new product at hand. It’s a soft and breathable fleece made from recycled wool. The fleece includes wood-based Tencel Lyocell and biodegradable fiber made from wood. A bio-based Sorona Polymer made from the sugar derived from corn is the final component. Kind fleece is available in four new styles: the Chilliwack Bomber, the Severn ½ Zip Sweater, the Lawson Fleece Jacket and the Mersey Fleece Vest. The collection aims to embody coziness and versatility, while reimagining fleece in an eco-friendly way.
The release of the 2021 ESG Report and Kind Fleece builds upon the brands HUMANATURE platform. The platform unites sustainability with the brands values. The full report is available on the Canada Goose website, along with the new Kind Fleece collection. The collection is available to shop at Canada Goose storefronts as well.
