Canada Goose x UNION LA: Canada’s Very Best Lace Up for the NBA
The collaboration kicks off the third year of Canada Goose’s partnership with the NBA

In keeping with its Canadian roots, Canada Goose has announced a collaboration with renowned streetwear designer – and fellow Canadian – Chris Gibbs of UNION LA. The five-piece capsule comes as part of Canada Goose’s multi-year partnership with the NBA and celebrates the league’s upcoming 2023 NBA All-Star Game.
Gibbs, UNION’s founder and designer, said the “collection truly reflects the very definition of UNION, the action or fact of joining or being joined together.” He also spoke to the collection’s fusion of Canada Goose’s luxury performance with UNION LA’s styling, which he said was “created with the West Coast lifestyle in mind.”
Designed to layer and mix-and-match, the five unisex pieces in the collection embody both brands’ shared belief in the power of representation through global fashion, rethinking classic silhouettes and nostalgic heritage patterns.
Take the Toussaint coat, for instance. Inspired by French military style, it features a drawstring hood and adjustable cord at the bottom – perfect for cinching in all those layers. The transitional Breda Liner jacket charms as a standalone piece or can be buttoned into the Toussaint coat for additional warmth. Classic MA-1 jacket styles meet the varsity design to form the reversible Bullard bomber, which highlights tonal Canada Goose disc and Union emblems.
Chief Product Officer of Canada Goose, Woody Blackford spoke about the brand’s commitment to reach new audiences, while surprising and exciting their consumers. “We worked closely with UNION founder and designer, Chris Gibbs, to capture the spirit of the West Coast-inspired Streetwear designs UNION LA is known for, together with the performance and functionality of Canada Goose, without compromise,” said Blackford. “The result is an Americana-inspired capsule collection with five versatile, functional and stylish pieces, perfect for living in the open no matter where you are.”
The campaign was directed by acclaimed creator/artist, stylist and budding director Beth Birkett-Gibbs, who has worked in the streetwear fashion space for the past two decades. Birkett-Gibbs leans heavily into California-inspired storytelling with an eclectic cast featuring singer-songwriter Tierra Whack and NBA point guard Fred VanVleet.
In a timely release, the collection will launch Feb. 9, a week before the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, taking place in Salt Lake City, UT.
