Carly Rae Jepsen Releases Idyllic Video for New Single ‘Western Wind’

The song of the Summer has arrived.

Amongst her snappy bangers and dynamic ballads, Carly Rae Jepsen teased a yet-to-be-released track last month at Coachella. Now, that track ‘Western Wind,’ has been officially released and it is everything we could have imagined and more.

After nearly a year-long hiatus from music, Jepsen’s latest drop is just the song we needed for the always anticipated transition to Summer. Produced and co-written by longtime collaborator Rostam Batmanglij—who had a hand in fan favorite ‘Warm Blood’—’Western Wind’ sees Jepsen tap into her serene-side with lyrics like ‘Comin’ in like a western wind/Do you feel home from all directions?’ that we will be humming all Summer long.

The track boasts a bevy of guitar riffs intermixed with snappy synths, certainly showing off Jepsen’s ever-growing versatility. Slow building and undeniably catchy, Jepsen looked to the natural beauty of California where she now resides as inspiration. The single follows Jepsen’s 2020 track ‘It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries’ and her 2019 Dedicated: Side B.

Too, the accompanying video further drives home Jepsen’s appreciation of Mother Earth. The Canadian singer is seen gallivanting in sprawling fields and standing on the limbs of foreboding trees, all the while wearing powder pastel maxi dresses: the ultimate Summertime activity. Listen, below.
