Despite the cancellation of the Men’s Summer 2024 show in Paris this past July, CELINE was prepared enough to capture a film for the collection, capturing the essence of daydreaming while embodying the formidable strength of resilience.

Set in iconic venues such as the La Gaîté Lyrique and the Le Grand Rex in Paris, and the Monte-Carlo Opera Garnier in Monaco, the show, titled “Delusional Daydream”, features artistry of classical ballet dancer Laurids Seidel with an original soundtrack for CELINE, featuring an extended version of “Losing My Edge” by LCD Soundsystem.

Hedi Slimane’s journey with the inspiration behind the Delusional Daydream show traces back to the early 2000s, back to when he documented the emergence of a groundbreaking art scene in New York that included the likes of Dan Colen, Terence Koh, Nate Lowman, and Dash Snow just to name a few. With standout moments that include his 2007 curation of a group show titled “Sweet Bird of Youth” at Arndt & Partner in Berlin, and his exhibition “Young American” at the Foam Fotografiemuseum in Amsterdam in the same year, Slimane recalled his connection with the New York art scene for this new lineup for the French fashion show, connecting with Dash Snow’s estate to choose artworks from his archive to include in the Delusional Daydream collection.

Key pieces seen throughout the collection that echo a borrowed from the girls approach include couture bustiers, satin bows, and tailored silhouettes that draw inspiration from the French 17th-century court, allowing a fusion of historical elegance and contemporary flair.

Alongside the feminine takes, Slimane’s unmistakable signature codes take center stage, marking a bold showing to the fashion forefront. The iconic skinny black ties, synonymous with his distinctive aesthetic, complement the low-rise pants, creating an interplay of proportions and styles.
