CELINE has finally released the video for its Winter 2023 collection show, which took place at the Wiltern in Los Angeles back in December of 2022.
The show was packed full of shimmering details and lots of black-and-gold looks that fully embraced the late 90s and early 2000s indie alt-rock movement. Artistic Director Hedi Slimane’s choice to hold the show at the Wiltern exemplified just that, as musicians including The Strokes, Interpol, and Iggy Pop frequented the now-famed venue.
Named ‘Age Of Indieness’, the one-night-only show—and now video—had models strut down the stage to The White Stripes’ song “Hello Operator” from their 2000 record De Stijl. The video begins with clips of the beautiful concert hall and the surrounding Venice and Los Angeles scenes.
A massive CELINE logo flashes bright lights as the models—including Kaia Gerber—in band jackets, low-hung belts, tight black pants, and lots of boots walk out in full rock-star fashion. Looks for both men and women ranged from grungy to chic, all-encompassing a portal back in time to the re-emerging era of indie sleaze.
After the CELINE logo lights dim, the set bursts again with energy with a final walkout of beautiful shimmering slip dresses, after which the curtains lower and the show comes to a close.
As the show itself was an experience alone—and was followed by a concert with Iggy Pop, The Strokes, Interpol, and The Kills—many big-name celebrities attended in full CELINE looks. Among the crowd were Courtney Cox, Miles and Keleigh Teller, Emma Roberts, Wiz Khalifa, Brie Larson, Cindy Crawford, and Priscilla Presley.
