In a cinematic reveal, the CELINE Women’s Summer 2024 collection takes center stage in a newly released video for the house’s latest lineup, officially titled “LA COLLECTION DE LA BIBLIOTHÈQUE NATIONALE.”

Directed by CELINE’s very own Hedi Slimane, the video features a collection blending fashion, history, literature, and architecture in one, showcasing the brand’s commitment to quality, innovation, and timeless style. The CELINE 19 Women Summer 24 video was filmed at the Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris, including the “Salle de Lecture du Département des Manuscrits et de la Musique,” “Salle Labrouste,” “Cour Turbeuf,” “Cour d’Honneur,” “Passage Choiseul,” and the Bir-Hakeim Bridge.

Showcasing an assemblage of new classics and stand-out bags such as the Lola, Victoire, Mini Chain Claude, and Polly models, the show also just happened to be situated just across the street from the CELINE Ateliers on Rue Vivienne in the 2nd district of Paris. Originally a royal library, it transformed into a national library following the French Revolution, preserving the royal collections from the Middle Ages to the present day.

The “Cour d’Honneur,” featuring buildings from different eras, presents the evolution of French architecture. The 18th-century front, created by architect Robert de Cotte, blends well with the neoclassical south and west sides designed by Henri Labrouste. The pathway to the “Salle de Lecture du Département des Manuscrits et de la Musique” is elegantly marked by the “Galerie de Verre,” a creation of architect Bruno Gaudin.

The creative touch goes beyond clothing and extends to the models’ makeup and hairstyles, courtesy of makeup artist Aaron De Mey and hairstylist Esther Langham. Notably, both Stella Rose and Esther-Rose McGregor make distinctive appearances in the video. Hedi Slimane also captured musician Stella Rose in New York in 2023, while Esther-Rose McGregor, a talented young British-American actress, contributed her unique charm to the video.

The video features an original soundtrack—an extended version of “Too Much Love” performed by LCD Soundsystem. This track hails from their debut album, released in January 2005, and remains an influential force in the realm of indie electronic music.

In collaboration with Master & Dynamic, models in the video don leather headphones embossed with the emblematic CELINE Triomphe, adding a touch of luxury to the video. Opening and closing with “Tomboy” looks, the collection serves as a testament to Hedi Slimane’s androgynous tailoring.
