Cersei vs. Daenerys: The GoT Rivals’ Greatest Fashion Moments

Seven seasons so far of fashion face-offs #forthethrone.

Game of Thrones’ impact on fashion, much like most of its characters, is anything but subtle…

In 2017 fans fawned over a line of Delvaux bags inspired by the show, and the fashion pack’s own Gwendoline Christie plays Brienne of Tarth, the no-joke knight who mentors Arya Stark. Christie may be a fashion favorite in real life, but the heavy-hitting costumes belong to none other than Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) and Daenerys Targaryen (Emilia Clarke).

Cersei’s character development reads like a political drama: the all-motherly Queen of the kingdom’s husband dies and she slowly grows into her own. Eventually finding her way back to the Iron Throne after the death of her husband, she becomes a fearless (and fear-inspiring) leader willing to tear down anything and anyone in her path. Daenerys, on the other hand, lands her way from exile to one of the frontrunners for the crown with the help of her dragons.

As the two characters both go all in for the throne, each one’s evolution mirrors a woman coming into her own. Cersei cuts off her long curls, and Daenerys’s soft robes get swapped for power-shouldered coats and capes.
