Brandon Maxwell burst onto the fashion scene as Lady Gaga's fashion director before launching his eponymous line to much applause, including a nod from the LVMH Prize panel who shortlisted him as one of the most exciting young designers to know.
The young designer also dressed supermodel Karlie Kloss for the 2016 Met Gala in a white sheath, before whipping out a pair of scissors and literally snipping out a new dress for her post-gala look, a story that went viral. Maxwell's designs are known for being simple and elegant—perhaps surprising, given his work with the consistently over-the-top, avant-garde Gaga—but he has designed some demure pieces for the star, as well as a host of other powerful women (including none other than former First Lady Michelle Obama).
