CHANEL N°5 Celebrates 100 Years with CHANEL FACTORY 5

CHANEL FACTORY 5 reimagines the infamous N°5 look and feel.

Marking the 100th Anniversary of the infamous CHANEL N°5, Chanel is launching a limited-edition collection, CHANEL FACTORY 5, which is a series of seventeen products made with the iconic scent meant to resemble an “ultra-modern factory.”

Desiring to transform everyday objects with a CHANEL N°5 flare, products within the collection include various body creams, shower gels, oils, soaps and of course, perfumes. However, what stands out about CHANEL FACTORY 5 is that all the products are packaged in “ordinary” displays, such as bath tablets and shower gel in “paint cans” and body oil in what resembles an oil dispensing squeeze bottle with a burette tip.

“There can be as much value in products that we use regularly as in products that we use for very special occasions. It’s all about the experience these products give you,” says Thomas du Pré de Saint Maur Chanel’s Head of Global Creative Resources Fragrance and Beauty about the collection and its presentation.

Following the brand all the way back to its roots with French founder Gabrielle Chanel, du Pré de Saint Maur notes that the luxury fashion House longed to find inspiration in the unexpected, finding it in the whimsical reinvention of N°5 itself, showing that legendary status can be constantly reworked and reimagined in new ways, even after a century of display.

The collection proposes a homage to the packaging of N°5 bottle on its own, which has always been featured in its simplistic laboratory bottle, notioning tradition and elegance within this newfound collection.

Displaying as a pop-up in Chanel stores in major cities all around the world starting June 29, devout Chanel lovers can also view the pop-up digitally, allowing all to experience a “theme park” honoring N°5, that immerses people in the world of the legendary name.
