Mykki Blanco stars in one of Desigual’s most iconic jackets as the spokesperson and embodiment of change. The original Ibiza design created in 1986, has resurfaced with similar elements and is set to launch Monday, February 24th, 2020. Made famous by Freddie Mercury who originally bought 20 from the island, Blanco brings a re-energized voice in music and an activist for the queer community. Mykki Blanco’s efforts are in line with Desigual’s mission of being 100% authentic. The original unisex Desigual jacket made from scraps of jeans, leather cuffs, and embellished with Micky Mouse patches changed the trajectory for the young brand at the time. Therefore, it is fitting a re-customized jacket with assistance from collaborating artists will be released for February 2020. Thirty-four years full of love, thought, and detail, Mykki Blanco brings “La 86” to the twenty-first century. Desigual recognizes everything is vulnerable to change, however amongst being the voice of change, “La 86” is staying the same.
