Charli XCX’s New Track “forever” is a Slow Build Banger
The first song from her forthcoming isolation-inspired album ‘how i’m feeling now’ is here.
In a time when everything feels like it’s at a standstill, Charli XCX is using this period of isolation to create a new album and to connect with her fans on an even deeper level. Today, the superstar has released the first track from her forthcoming album, how i’m feeling now which is, in true Charli fashion, a bona fide banger.
Enlisting the genius of producers A.G. Cook and BJ Burton, “forever” is a slow build confession of love that explores the way distance can alter connection and ultimately confirm the passionate way one feels about another. Generously providing intel to her fans on Instagram Live, Charli has confirmed that this album is going to be heavily focused on the relationship she has with her longtime partner and that it will explore a more of personal side of herself
Adding another layer to “forever”, Charli has commissioned three artists in her inner circle to create the artwork for a track including Caroline Polachek, Regards Coupables, and Seth Bogart. In a caption on her Instagram, Charli said, “I like the idea that the visual language for this project can be interpreted by however someone feels towards the music. The music and the emotions that are generated guide the creative output and anything is possible.”
As we wait for the entire album to drop on May 15, listen to Charli XCX’s new track “forever” below.
