Chloe Moriondo has a Sweet Tooth: New Single “Fruity” Drops with ’90s Inspired Visual

Indie-pop artist announces upcoming album and headline tour, previewed by a juicy new beat

Fresh off Billboard’s “21 Under 21” list alongside Gen Z icons Olivia Rodrigo and Billie Eilish, 19-year-old bedroom pop singer Chloe Moriondo is back online with a sugar-sweet announcement—An October release date for new album SUCKERPUNCH, and electric single “Fruity” to subside our cravings while we wait.

The catchy pop-beat is a cheeky reference to the singer’s favorite fruits and nods to teen romance, bringing with it an indulgent music video directed by Raoul Gonzo. A sugar rush on screen, the clips of nostalgic animation feature a neon pink Chloe as the star of a bubbly ’90s soda ad. Daydreaming from a dreary, mundane office, the singer jumps into a flashy infomercial where they bring a computer-drawn soda can to life before transforming the workspace one outfit at a time. Soon, color overwhelms the drabby beige and dozing workers, and the office becomes a site for the “Fruity” ad itself.

Moriondo’s newest party anthem and upcoming album are continuations of the artist’s evident success, 3.1 million Youtube subscribers and 2.3 million monthly Spotify listeners in the making. Last year, the singer introduced major-label debut album Blood Bunny, which awarded itself a ranking on The New York Times’ “Best Albums of 2021” and namedrops in praising articles across PAPER, Refinery29, Pitchfork, The FADER, and more.

The announcement of Moriondo’s upcoming releases also marks the start of a two-month headline tour, commencing at Firefly Music Festival in Dover, DE in September and finishing in Detroit, MI in late November. Hitting cities on both coasts with plenty of stops in between, it’s time to unwrap the singer’s latest treat and take a bite—It’s going to be one sweet season.
