Russian feminist punk group Pussy Riot is known for causing political disruption. Whether the collective led by the outspoken Nadya Tolokonnikova is inciting a rally in a Moscow cathedral or releasing blatant protest anthems like "Make America Great Again," the group intends to combat sexism and authoritarianism. Since the election of Donald Trump, the group has been as active as ever, most recently teaming up with actress and fashion icon Chloe Sevigny for their latest video, "Police State," released on the one year anniversary of the 2016 election.

In their signature balaclavas, the video finds Pussy Riot rallying against the autocracy, while Sevigny thwarts their every move as she portrays an intimidating riot control cop to represent the police state. While the song itself sounds nearly magical with euphoric lyrics like "Oh my god / I'm so happy, I could die," the track is starkly juxtaposed by the dystopian video illustrating our dark reality of silenced voices, with even propaganda from Trump and Putin flooding television screens in the clip.
