Christian Cowan’s FW19 Collection Pops and Shines

Cowan’s newest collection sets a color scene at NYFW.

Christian Cowan returned to NYFW with his FW19 collection, continuing his youthful take on the modern woman. Nikita Dragun, Slick Woods, and Carmen Carrera were among the front row attendants, reinforcing Cowan’s strong following that formed even before his graduation from fashion school.

Along with being a finalist for the 2018 CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, Cowan teamed up with Stuart Weitzman and Giuseppe Zanotti to release footwear. Cowan and Zanotti’s collaboration retained its wristwatch detailing but was reinterpreted in neon color ways for the new collection, showcasing his collection’s color theme that’s atypical for fall.

The show opened with a fluorescent pink frock with a full feather skirt, followed by a sequined dress of the same color. Immediately, Cowan’s affinity for unique materials was showcased through sequined sleeves and bows as well as neon colored mesh and leather outfits.

Bejeweled silver accessories and layers of chained jewelry were extended into details on all-black pieces around collars, waistlines, and in form of drawstrings, belts, sleeves, and headpieces.

The show closed with model and activist Halima Aden, who signed to IMG Models after her participation in the Miss Minnesota USA pageant as the first woman to wear a hijab.
