Christian Cowan Debuts Handbags To Carry The Motorola Razr
“It seemed like the perfect opportunity to come up with kind of a really unique, special kind of purse.”
Christian Cowan has partnered with Motorola to debut a line of handbags inspired by the iconic Razr phone. Their line includes three different bags: the Vallarta Blue Fringe purse, the White Onyx Belt Bag, and the Sandshell purse. All feature a clamshell closure, reminiscent of the flip phone design.
“We haven’t released handbags before. It’s such an obvious category that everyone has been asking for,” said Cowan to WWD. “And it seemed like the perfect opportunity to come up with kind of a really unique, special kind of purse.”
Motorola launched the newest iteration of the Razr phone earlier this year, a 5G smartphone with a bending screen and turbocharging. New York City-based filmmaker Luke Gilford directed a short film, titled “Joyride,” to accompany the release. This fashion collaboration seems to be the latest push for the retro device.
“I feel like I’d had such a long relationship with the Razr phone, because I had one when I was a teenager — it was like my favorite thing,” said Cowan to WWD. “And now it’s so cool, having that updated Razr because it’s so fabulous, with a bendy screen and so on…it just felt like me, as a brand.”
The handbags are now available for purchase at Christian Cowan online, and the Motorola Razr can be found online as well.
