Circoloco Invades New York Fashion Week

Head honcho Antonio Carbonaro has once again brought the fiery energy of the Ibiza party circuit to New York City.

On February 14th, the aura of the Ibiza party scene took over the Brooklyn Navy Yard, here in NYC. The infamous party circuit named Circoloco returned once again for the end of New York Fashion Week, this time throwing a special warehouse party, with their partners Teksupport, to not only celebrate the conclusion of another stellar week of runway trends for the season ahead but to also celebrate Valentine’s Day. I mean, what better way to spend your V-Day, than in a red-lit warehouse filled with great music and energetic partygoers.

The party gods were heavily present that night, gifting us with the sounds of Marco Carola, Mike Servito and Tale of Us. The bash has always been known to curate sounds from the best of the best, thus capturing the attention of people from all over the world. Head honcho Antonio Carbonaro has managed to keep the energy of the circuit going for over 20 years, becoming a staple in both the music and fashion world. “We started Circoloco 21 years ago in DC-10, back when it was an old Finca by the Ibiza airport. At the time, our event serviced the after-hours’ crowd on Monday after Space’s 24-hour parties. Over its first years, Circoloco grew stronger and even revered by many artists and music lovers – to the point where it became a movement, a lifestyle.  I’m now happy to say Circoloco has evolved into a defining symbol of underground dance music culture not just in Ibiza, but around the world.

Some of the fashion and Hollywood’s elite have been known to attend the party, such as Naomi Campbell and Leonardo DiCaprio. Carbonaro even managed to merge the global phenomenon with design, collaborating with designers such as Virgil Abloh and Philipp Plein for exclusive events and even capsule collections. “Our community has become increasingly connected to the fashion world over the years, likely due to our emphasis on combining visual art and music that pushes the envelope. It’s almost like Circoloco is a magnet that attracts influential people (in the fashion world and beyond) to it. This attraction is what motivates us to collaborate with people like Virgil Abloh and Riccardo Tisci, offer new experiences to our fans.”

Carbonaro has learned a lot over the last two decades of running the party circuit. The greatest lesson he’s learned? “It’s to put what’s best for Circoloco first and not look at what everyone else is doing.  From preparation to the day after, communicating our artistic vision to the people remains our core. We are an independent movement, and creating a sense of unity, and family is our guiding force.  As I look back and see Circoloco’s evolution across several generations, I feel fulfilled in knowing our brand has created a permanent mark on dance culture. This is the biggest emotion for me, and the best is yet to come”
