Coach Collabs with Michael B. Jordan for a Capsule Collection
Michael B. Jordan works with artist Blue the Great and Coach for a collection that is all about creativity and friendship.
After becoming a global ambassador for Coach back in 2019, Michael B. Jordan has created multiple projects for the luxe accessories brand. These collaborations have always been inspired by things and interests in Jordan’s life, including his passion for the Japanese anime show, Naruto. Now, he is bringing a collection unlike any other, with a campaign that includes one of his dearest friends: LA-based artist and painter, Blue the Great. This collection highlights the importance of collaboration and friendship, while highlighting Coach’s heritage and the creative community.
The collection, titled Blue the Great: The Art of Collaboration, incorporates both Jordan’s approach to style and Blue’s artwork. From ready-to-wear, footwear, bags and accessories, the all-gender collection is filled with classic Coach emblems, sleek designs and vibrant colors. However, one of the collection’s most prominent features is Blue’s trademark: a mummy-wrapped dinosaur. You can find this trademark on almost every item, including the tote bags made from 100% recycled materials.
Helping to introduce the collection is Jordan himself, Blue, Khat and Frank Brim and Tori Kirihara. In the campaign, photographed by Shaniqwa Jarvis, the four are seen in an “open door” art gallery, used to represent collaboration and authentic connection. The venue, and overall theme of the collection, is also meant to continue Coach’s tradition of spotlighting the voices of up-and-coming and under-represented artists through story-telling and symbolism.
“We had worked with Blue as part of our Spring 2021 campaign, so I was excited to partner with him and Michael on this special collection,” said Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers. “Mike and Blue have a great friendship, grounded in mutual respect for each other’s artistic approach. The combination brought originality, dimension and significance to this collection.”
The Blue the Great: The Art of Collaboration collection is currently available on Coach’s website. View the exclusive interview between Jordan and Blue below.
