At the intersection of fashion and social justice stands Collina Strada, a vibrant pillar of whimsical, charismatic designs with cult-status core pieces. Designed by Hillary Taymour, the fashion label-slash-platform for awareness is based in New York and en route to being fully transparent, radically sustainable, and undeniably unique.

Collina Strada imbues youth, energy, eclecticism into all their pieces, and despite their runway show being virtual due to the pandemic, it was as lively and engaging as if it had been in person. The brand DNA prides itself on looking inward, capturing a fearless, fluid internal psyche under a loud and expressive exterior. Their ready-to-wear collection never shies from color, breaking barriers, and stepping outside the box; even corona masks are in the shape of daisies, adding something special and sweet to a piece of cloth we all wear.

“We are in a crucial state of change right now and the more we [do, the more we] can impact others to take action,” said Taymour.

Their digital runway show, a childhood fantasy dreamscape elevated into the realm of high fashion, is intended to spur viewers and consumers into action. Against a green screen backdrop of fun, bright visuals ranging from a close-up of a kiwi to a childlike, crayon-scrawled row of houses, models including Aaron Phillip and Michelle Phanh dance, strut, and play in colorfully cladded pieces from the collection surrounded by animated graphics and flamboyant, amorphous characters in their fantasy realm.

Standout pieces consist of everything from a lime green, lace full bodysuit with a matching 5-petal vibrant face mask to a floral-stamped, pastel pair of trousers. Like the models wearing them, the pieces themselves are fierce, unique, and stamped with Collina Strada’s signature re-invention of classics with unexpected details.
