Comfort Is at the Center of Missoni’s Fall 2021 Collection

The Italian house’s latest film flows across seasons and activities.

The fashion world may have been obsessed with comfort for the past year but for Missoni, that’s more than just a trend: that’s the label’s essence. And it’s very palpable on “Look Right Through Me,” the Italian house’s short film presentation of its Fall 2021 collection, released this Wednesday as part of Milan Fashion Week.

The film, which was edited to look like one continuous shot, follows models taking in various activities, from bowling to hanging out with friends at home to partying – all to the soundtrack of an electronic cover of Tears For Fears’ 1982 hit “Mad World” by Underwaters. It not only shows the collection’s versatility but also the hope for a brighter future when we’ll finally be able to do those things without any restrictions again.

It’s also worth noting the video mixes designs from other seasons and collections, reinforcing the label’s commitment to timelessness and durability – and, of course, reminding the viewer that a normal wardrobe isn’t confined to only one season.

The collection features a set of sweaters, cardigans, hoodies, and pants with Missoni’s signature zig-zag pattern. A highlight is the marble orange hoodie and pants ensemble, which mixes patches of different patterns and textures over a tie-dye-like fabric.

Another motif is the glittery fine stripes featured in flowy ‘70s-inspired dresses and ensembles, with a plissé effect that favors the light movement of the designs. The palette is dominated by warm tones, though some creations are emphasized in blue or pastel pink, such as the oversized zipper hoodie or the knit turtleneck dress.

The party wear is also designed in a way to favor the wearer’s movement, with long glittery dresses and jackets. The looks are complemented with maroon suede square-heel boots and slip-in ankle sneakers, along with a mini orange or teal zig-zag bag.
