Courrèges SS22 Looks to the Past and the Future to Dress for Today

Artistic Director Nicolas Di Felice’s Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2022 collection embraces vinyl, silver, and timeless designs.

One ticket for the time machine, please. Artistic Director Nicolas Di Felice presents a Courrèges Spring/Summer 2022 collection that is at once futuristic and modern, while also completely accessible and practical for dressing today. Di Felice honors the brand’s 1960s heritage with a nod to the mod styles of that time, while reinventing the overall look of the collection into something that feels very youthful and even a bit sexy. Vinyl material, a minimalistic color palette, and structured tailoring creates a brilliant balance of forward-thinking design with timeless appeal.

Trench coats, flowing overcoats, moto jackets, and a bomber jacket or two, celebrate minimalist design and the art of making a statement while being pragmatic. In white, black, vibrant yellow, bubblegum pink—and even futuristic shiny silver—outerwear is a necessity for spring and summer. Clean lines and tailoring make each piece a wardrobe staple that you could wear straight off the gravel and grass runway.

Mod-era mini skirts, high neck and sleeveless dresses, and even round-framed sunglasses embrace the youthful appeal of the ’60s wardrobe. With a diagonal striped pattern or button-down detailing, the pieces are chic and wearable from yesteryears to today. Zooming into the future, the ’60s styles are reworked with halters and cross-straps for crop tops and dresses—with metal chain detailing—that add a little edge. In vinyl fabric and bright blue, silver, and black colorways, the collection clearly has the modern woman in mind.

Straight necklines on dresses and tops, high waisted flare trousers, and one deep-v dress with a front slit and silver pants underneath, create an atmosphere of power dressing that is quite in tune with the contemporary dresser. In not losing the elegance and chicness of a famed house like Courrèges, Di Felice designs with a youthful eye and keeps the future in mind, creating a collection that is altogether timeless—fit for the women of today, tomorrow, and mod-eras past.
