After Sam Smith's first album In the Lonely Hour won him four Grammys, we've been left wondering what's next for the range-defying pop singer. We finally have our answer with his highly anticipated sophomore album, The Thrill of it All, out today.

Much like his debut, the new record follows Smith's lonely nights and tortured days in beautifully devastating ways. He expounds on his gay identity in the dramatic "Him," crooning "it is him I love" to a "Holy father" figure. "No Peace" features Harlem-based up-and-comer Yebba as the album's lone collaborator. The album's opening track and smash first single, "Too Good At Goodbyes," has almost 120 million YouTube views at this time. It's fair to say that Smith's sadness has universal appeal, and that an LGBTQ singer writing on his trials of love and loss can gain mainstream listenership. Time will tell if it can live up to the awards and critical acclaim of In the Lonely Hour.

The Thrill of it All is available on Apple Music and Spotify. Listen below.
