Cynthia Erivo Joins Mulberry to Showcase The Roxanne Bag

The British lifestyle brand has introduced four new iterations of the classic design
Wicked actress Cynthia Erivo has joined Mulberry to welcome four new iterations of the beloved Roxanne bag. The British lifestyle brand has long been hailed for its classic styles and quality leather goods, and its new launch delivers a fresh take on one of the brand’s most iconic designs.

Photographed by Tim Walker, Erivo is captured sitting on a rope swing and draped in flowing lilac. The dreamlike image is grounded by the Roxanne bag placed in the foreground, featuring brass buckles and a shoulder strap. Both the Roxanne and the Small Roxanne may also be worn as a crossbody. In another image, the Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winning artist is shown dressed in white holding an olive-toned variation, styled by Kate Phelan.
The original design, released in 2004, has been worn by the likes of Kate Moss and Mary-Kate Olsen. Though its recognizable Y2K style is maintained through front-facing pockets and a boxy shape, the new iterations introduce subtle details that gently modernize the bag. The original 2004 style is still available to purchase through The Mulberry Exchange.

“As a born and bred Londoner I remember longing for a Mulberry—the ultimate statement bag—so this moment really feels full circle. The campaign has captured the Roxanne bag’s rebellious and romantic spirit, something that represents my own style. I believe that style centers on authentic self-expression and collaboration, and this drew me to partnering with such an iconic British brand who champion creativity, craftsmanship, and cultivate a sense of community,” Erivo said.
The campaign also introduces a video series featuring Erivo in conversation with Recho Omondi, fashion designer and host of the podcast “The Cutting Room Floor.” Walker’s images, taken in an ornate living room and slightly abstracted, capture the essence of the launch, which toes the line between timelessness and elevation.
