For Spring/Summer 2027, Burberry welcomes Celia Birtwell, the British textile artist whose hand-drawn prints helped define 1960s and 1970s fashion through her celebrated collaboration with designer Ossie Clark. This time, Birtwell turns her attention to Burberry’s signature House Check, reworking the classic motif through her distinctive drawing style.

Across the collection, the familiar check shifts in scale and form. Some looks feature enlarged squares, while others reduce the pattern into smaller checks or transform it into stripes. Birtwell’s hand-drawn faces and flowers are layered throughout, softening the precision of the geometric patterns and giving them a more personal, expressive quality. Her drawings are printed onto cotton and embroidered across other pieces, preserving the irregular lines and character of the originals.

Lee washes silk and cotton until the fabrics feel soft and worn, stripping away the crisp finish of new clothes. Trench coats are bunched and gathered to create rounded volume, while two layers of leather are stitched together to produce a subtle rippling effect across coats and skirts.

The color palette shifts between soft pastels and deeper shades of blue and brown, while accessories extend the collection’s focus on texture. Hand-applied flowers cover the equestrian-inspired Derby bag, while the Sloane reimagines the Burberry Check in woven leather. Distressed biker boots and embroidered canvas sneakers bring the same worn, tactile quality to the footwear.
