I hate to admit it, but I’ve been dying my hair since I was 15-years-old. I’ve experienced everything from beautifully done caramel highlights to botched blonde balayages, yet all have damaged my hair equally. Since I’ve spent too much of my teen years (and my parent’s money) dyeing my locks, they’ve quickly gone from shiny curls to dull waves. Unfortunately for me, I’m at the point of my hair journey where I am unsure if it will ever return to its glory. I have days where it looks somewhat decent, and other days where I am extremely thankful for my growing collection of baseball caps. But now, I’m wanting to take my haircare more seriously besides using a wet brush and microfiber towel.

If you’re like me, you’re needing a product that gives your hair a little more T.L.C. Below are some of our favorite hair masks that can help replenish your hair back to its original state.

MoroccanOil Intense Hydrating Mask

Anyone who hasn’t heard of MoroccanOil is lying to you. The brand is loved for their MoroccanOil Treatment because of its ability to boost shine and moisture. The Intense Hydrating Mask is no different than that, thanks to its high-forming and rich formula made for medium to thick, dry hair. Like all MoroccanOil products, the product includes argan oil to deeply nourish the hair and improve elasticity. It also includes protein-enriched ingredients to repair and fortify damaged strands in just five minutes.

Gisou Honey Infused Hair Mask

This hair mask has a cult-following for a very good reason. Not only does it smell incredibly good, but also contains an iconic natural and sustainably-sourced ingredient: honey. The founder, Negin Mirsalehi, comes from a family of beekeepers and is one herself. Each of their products contains Mirsalehi Honey from the Mirsalehi Bee Garden, which is formulated to hydrate and replenish the hair. This mask also helps maintain your hair’s natural moisture balance for extra soft and bouncy locks.

You don’t always have to spend loads of money to achieve the hair of your dreams. Miss Jessie’s Rapid Recovery mask proves just that, with a once per week formula that protects and hydrates the hair. Made for curly and kinky hair types, this product gets rid of tangles and brittleness after every use. Its star ingredients, shea butter and avocado cream oil, help restore shine and moisture to keep curls in their best shape.

Oribe Signature Moisture Mask

If you’re looking for a hair mask that screams luxury, then this Oribe Signature Moisture Mask will be your next go-to. Great for all hair types, this mask includes antioxidants and wild mango butter to protect against dryness and improve shine. Containing Oribe’s signature scent, Côte d’Azur, it features ingredients that defend against environmental elements and leave hair smelling devine. It is also color- and keratin-treatment safe, so even the most damaged hair can benefit from its hydrating properties.

Pattern Beauty Intensive Conditioner

Owned by beloved actress Tracee Ellis Ross, Pattern Beauty has quickly become one of the most popular brands on the market. Not only does the brand promote clean products, but it also supports organizations that empower women and people of color. Their Intensive Conditioner is great for tighter textures looking for extra protection and moisture. With the help of avocado oil, shea butter, safflower oil & acacia decurrens flower, hair is left softer, hydrated and more stronger than ever. Although it is a conditioner, it can be left on for 10-minutes as a repair treatment.

OUAI Fine to Medium Hair Treatment Masque

This is a mask that will not only look aesthetically pleasing on your bathroom counter, but will also work just as powerfully to improve hair health. If you are worried about a hair mask wearing your hair down, this one is perfect as it is formulated for finer hair types. Some of its ingredients include keratin and shea butter that work together to repair damaged hair and fight against frize. These two ingredients also help hydrate and soften strands, leaving you with extra silky hair for days.

There is nothing better than a hair mask that benefits the hair while also having clean ingredients. Adwoa Beauty’s Blue Tansy Reparative Mask contains plant proteins that help aid in detangling, improving shine and preventing breakage. This mask is ideal for anyone who has curls and/or damaged hair, since it is super creamy and rich enough that porous strands are instantly sealed and left more strengthened.
