Ahead of the New York premiere of The Night Manager Season 2, Mexican actor Diego Calva invited VMAN behind the scenes of his pre-premiere prep. After an eight-year hiatus, the BAFTA- and Emmy-winning espionage thriller returns with new locations, higher stakes, and a fresh wave of sinister adversaries—marking one of television’s most anticipated comebacks.
Calva stars as Teddy Dos Santos, a dangerous Colombian businessman running a violent arms operation backed by a guerrilla army. As the season’s central antagonist, Dos Santos emerges as a formidable threat to Jonathan Pine (played by Tom Hiddleston), injecting fresh tension into the series’ high-gloss world of espionage. Early reactions have already praised both the show’s return and Calva’s performance.
For the premiere, Calva wore a head-to-toe look by Thom Browne. A sharply tailored black blazer and matching vest formed the foundation, layered over a crisp white high-collar shirt and narrow black tie. A long pleated black skirt introduced a sense of movement, while black-and-white striped over-the-calf socks and classic black leather derby shoes grounded the look. Executed in a strict palette of black, white, and gray, the outfit was impeccably pressed and proportioned.
Below, Calva takes us inside his getting-ready process ahead of the New York premiere, which he attended alongside director Georgi Banks and co-star Hiddleston. The Night Manager Season 2 is now streaming on Prime Video.
