Dior marked the commencement of the ‘Judy Chicago: Herstory’ exhibition with an elegant seated dinner held at The Bowery Hotel on October 10. The tables were adorned with Dior Maison designs by the celebrated artist Judy Chicago.
The exhibit showcases Judy Chicago’s six-decade career, showcasing her diverse contributions in painting, sculpture, installation, textiles, photography, stained glass, needlework, and printmaking. The exhibition chronicles Chicago’s artistic evolution, from her 1960s Minimalist experiments and groundbreaking feminist art of the 1970s to her narrative series in the 1980s and 1990s, which explored themes like environmental issues, birth, masculinity, and mortality.
Prior to the dinner, guests were invited to preview the exhibition. Judy Chicago, Dianna Agron, Mickalene Thomas, Derek Blasberg, Athena Calderone, Fabiola Beracasa, Sarah Hoover, Kate Young, Roze Traore, and more wore Dior and Dior Men.
Notables at the event included Jeffrey Deitch, Frederic Fekkai, Jeffrey Gibson, Mariane Ibrahim, Todd Adam Kessler, Peter Marino, Anne Pasternak, Monique Pean, Spencer Sweeney, Frederic Tcheng, and Shirin von Wulffen.
Judy Chicago: Herstory is on view through January 14th, 2024 at the New Museum.
