Dior Medallion Chair Exhibition Opens in Miami

The exhibition was ushered in with a star-studded cocktail reception.

Set at the Superblue museum in Miami, Florida, Dior unveiled its Medallion Chair Exhibition with a star-studded guest list that included the likes of Karlie Kloss, Venus Williams, Ricky Martin, Lucas Jagger, and more. Staged during Design Miami and Art Basel Miami Beach, the event celebrated the house’s commemorative exhibition that first opened in Milan, Italy, earlier this year.

Dior invited  seventeen artists from around the world to offer their interpretation of the house’s storied emblem, the Medallion Char. Marked by an oval backing and streamlined adornments, the medallion chair has become a signature in the DNA of the house of Dior. A symbol of Louis XVI, the chair was chosen by founder Christian Dior and were used as seats for the house’s first runway shows. Since, the chair has been a frequent motif throughout the house’s endeavors and has been used as a marker of cultural and personal expression.

On display at the exhibit are interpretations from global artists Sam Baron, Ignacio Carbonell Ivars, Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran, Khaled El Mays, Martino Gamper, Constance Guisset, India Mahdavi, nendo, Joy de Rohan Chabot, Linde Freya Tangelder, Atang Tshikare, Seungjin Yang, Ma Yansong, Jinyeong Yeon, Tokujin Yoshioka and Pierre Yovanovitch. The exhibition will be open until December 5th at Superblue.
