An exclusive fashion show was held at the Dolce & Gabbana Sartoria in Milan, captured in a short film by Karim Sadli. Through the video, we catch the Italian fashion house’s newest Alta Moda collection, “Eleganza Italiana”, in a cultivated movement. In its entirety, the collection emphasizes the sentiment of simplicity within fine tailoring, delicate detailing, exalting grace, and the maison’s timeless polish.
“Everything is pure and essential in a black dress,” notes Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. “Its elegance allows each woman to affirm her own personality, which is as unique as every one of our sartorial creations. Dolce & Gabbana Alta Moda is the essence of the purest feminine elegance.”
Plucking inspiration from the quintessential eras of fashion in the ’50s and ’60s, “Eleganza Italiana” was a dramatic affair, curated in all-black garments and ample precision, tied to the maison’s house codes. The stunning short film by Karim Sadli paired with the debut of this collection exists in black-and-white, referencing the Italian Neorealism of the ’50s and the rich history of haute couture.
The collection’s silhouettes are devised up of classic hourglass shapes, subtly glamorous daywear, exquisitely stitched tailoring, and voluptuously poised gowns and modest dresses, perfect for a night at the Teatro alla Scala. Feathered hats of grandeur, diamonte tiaras, classic pumps, and bags of various magnitudes completed the collection’s ensembles. The looks were complemented with grand occasion numbers, adding a satirical finish.
