Last summer, a stretch of the Hamptons took on the spirit of the Mediterranean, and this year, la dolce vita à la East Coast is back. At Gurney’s Montauk Resort & Seawater Spa, a place more often associated with understated East Coast leisure than baroque Sicilian style, Dolce & Gabbana has returned for a second season of seaside transformation. The Italian fashion house, known for its maximalist romance, has once again dressed Montauk in its signature hues and history, orchestrating the DG Resort takeover.

Montauk, the easternmost point of Long Island, has long held a quieter mystique than its glitzier Hamptons siblings, yet it’s increasingly becoming a playground for ambitious reinventions. At Gurney’s, a luxurious cliffside compound perched above the Atlantic, the brand has spun a vision of the Italian south. Sicilian ceramics unfurl as textiles, wrapping lounge chairs in Blu Mediterraneo motifs.

Perhaps the most quintessential touch is the Dolce & Gabbana pop-up boutique, striped vertically in Riviera blues and whites like a beach cabana built by Visconti. Inside, a curated selection of clothing and accessories evokes the brand’s romantic vision of Southern Italy, from linen separates to embroidered caftans and heirloom-worthy sunglasses. In this manner, the Atlantic coast, with its wild dunes and quiet grandeur, proves an unlikely but poetic partner to Dolce & Gabbana’s Mediterranean opulence.
