Here’s the Buzz: Dora Jar Releases New Single “Bumblebee” with Upcoming Tour Dates

New indie pop jam is a reminder to have perspective when times get tough

She’s talented, she’s experimental, and she isn’t slowing down. 24-year-old indie pop singer Dora Jar is stepping off the stage after opening for Billie Eilish’s Happier Than Ever tour with one major announcement—A new single “Bumblebee” and the artist’s first headlining tour.

Complete with an upbeat, catchy hook and intimate lyrics, Dora delivers a transcendent anthem of fresh perspective with “Bumblebee,” fusing the ambiance of bedroom pop, grunge, and folk. “The song is an attempt to escape the painful reality of human experience and trade it with the perspective of a bumblebee, a creature who can see a higher frequency of light, a creature who has wings and can fly off the cold hard ground, a creature that lives in service of nature,” Dora says. “My problems seem silly when I remember the existence of these intelligent creatures who could never be bothered by the trivial things that bother me.”

The rising star showcases versatility with more than just her music; Dora directed the “Bumblebee” music video herself, featuring young London dancers who were fans of her songs. The whimsical theme of the track’s visual accompaniment plays into the deeper motif of struggle and conflict, an artistic representation of what keeps Dora grounded during difficult times.

This isn’t the first time Dora’s artistic pursuits are catching the eye of an impressive audience. While living in Poland, the LA-raising raised singer was scouted by a London-based producer who found her music on Instagram. This prompted her move to London and launched her soon-to-be flourishing career.

Comfortably In Pain, her most recent EP, won praise from Billboard, Pitchfork, FLOOD Magazine, and more. “Bumblebee” is the artist’s first single since signing with Island Records, following an impressive production history on her debut EP, Digital Meadow, in which she enlisted the help of Solomonophonic, Felix Joseph, Ralph Castelli, Vron and John DeBold.

Dora’s come a long way since first uploading her music onto Instagram, and it’s all uphill from here. Tickets are available now for her first North America headlining tour this fall, commencing November 3 in Atlanta and closing November 30 in Los Angeles after hitting 12 cities.
