Drop Everything: Taylor Swift Is Releasing A Concert Film Tonight

Folklore is getting the film treatment.

What can’t Taylor Swift do? Add director to the long list of her talents, singer, songwriter, cat lover, because she just self-directed her own concert film. When we say concert film, bear in mind that it’s more like an intimate performance film, because the stadium shows Swift is known for are still a no-go.

She fooled us again with the surprise release, tweeting this morning about her new movie, “Folklore: The Long Pond Studio Sessions,” coming to Disney+ tonight. She wrote, “Well it’s 11/24 and 24-11=13 so I’ve got an announcement. You haven’t seen this film before. folklore: the long pond studio sessions will be out tonight at midnight PST on @DisneyPlus!”

Swift directed the movie, and stars in it as well, as she offers performances of the entire album alongside collaborators Aaron Dessner, Jack Antonoff, and Justin Vernon. In addition to the live songs, the crew gives behind-the-scenes stories and details from the making of the quarantine album.

Long Pond recording studio is in upstate New York and owned by Dessner, a woodsy spot that matches the aesthetic so carefully curated by Swift for her eighth studio release. “It’s an album that allows you to feel your feelings and it’s a product of isolation,” said Swift in the trailer.
