Dsquared2 Combines Formalwear With Beach Attire for Menswear Spring 2023 Collection

Bright colors, flowing silhouettes, and sunscreen took over the runway.

For the Menswear Spring 2023 collection, Dsquared2 presents a mix of formalwear and hot weather attire. Creative Directors Dean and Dan Caten light up a warehouse room with orange-hued lights to bring calmness and a sunshine-like feeling to the runway show. Models walked to the sounds of upbeat music that had a very tropical sound.

The show brought an island vibe to the indoors and created an island mood that went hand in hand with the collection itself.
Models walked down the walkway and their clothes flowed gracefully in step with their movements. Bright, bold colors covered all garments, really enhancing the tropical nature of the show itself. Wide flowing trousers with bold prints, such as abstract sun patterns and acid wash tye-dye, were a prominent piece throughout the show. They have been paired with form-fitting garments, such as blazers, bomber jackets, and knitted long sleeves to create an interesting shape.

Knitted garments, such as cardigans and shirts, employ colorful stripes for their design. They were reminiscent of tourist beach bags or towels that one would find in a beachside gift shop. Models sported sun attire, such as sandals, flip flops, sunglasses, and floppy sun hats to drive the tropical theme home. One key detail that tied the theme together was the addition of sunscreen to the face of certain models. Although it’s a detail that could be taken as a joke, it set the mood and showed the audience the kind of look the Caten twins were aiming to create.

The best way to describe the Menswear 2023 collection is if the fashion trends of the 2000s met any dad on a tropical vacation. Acid wash denim and brown corduroy jackets pair with bright tropical shirts and baggy denim shorts. The slim-fitting top and wide-leg bottom silhouette keep in line with the Resort 2023 collection that the brand showed in May of this year. Although that collection had a darker theme, using mainly black and white colorways and using more gothic graphics, the overall look remains the same. As we saw with the Fall 2022 collection, bold plaid prints and nylon parkas returned to the runway. Neon green and cerulean blue plaid takes shape in new jackets fit for spring instead of fall.

The Caten twins created the perfect island vibe with the Menswear Spring 2023 collection. They stay true to their motif of creating clothes that are perfect for both outdoor excursions and high fashion events. If you need a formal dinner jacket and a groovy pair of shorts, this is the collection to look for.
