Dean and Dan Caten of Dsquared2 know how to bring a fairy tale-esque aura to every show, and their Spring/Summer 2022 was no exception. The collection still has that dreamy spirit we know and love of the brand, and plays with different fabrics, layers and textures. But what makes SS22 different from previous collections is that it exudes grudge and has a unique play on humor. Adorned with soft glitter details and fringe, each piece is both playful and cool with a slight hint of punk rock. 

Both the brand’s men’s and women’s collections give a glamorous twist to its deconstructed feel. There is a large presence of floral prints, destroyed fabrics, patchwork and bright plaid, all in which follow the soft distressed look the collection successfully achieved. In the men’s clothing, there is military styling with components of upcycled patch pockets, vinyl pants and dainty floral details. We also see hints of camouflage, and a plethora of leather layered with torn knits and tees. 

For their women’s collection, there is the same weathered and textured vibe, except with an abundance of tulle and lace for a bit of romance. Both men’s and women’s have an array of florals, but for the women’s we see it in almost every sequinned blouse and embroidered pant. The dresses, a mix of transparent fabric and fringe detailing, give a vintage appearance to the already edgy theme. 

But what we loved most about the fairy tale meets grudge collection were the accessories. The floral adorned fairy wings were a star component of the show, as well as the handmade diamond crowns and unique fruit pendants that were paired with leopard print handbags. And to tie everything together, each look was either styled with strappy sandals, large platform heels or combat boots.
