In an unconstrained coalescence of mixing and matching, the upturning of what is wrong and right, and dressing with a free-spirited, no-rules mindset, DSQUARED2 has unveiled its pre-fall 2021 women’s collection.

The iconic Milanese label is taking its inspiration for the new collection from layering with abandon, seamlessly merging varied styles of military wear, retro glam and outdoorsy Canadian looks. Clashing prints and flashy patterns with clean-cut tailoring and embellishments define the new collection, which epitomizes the Dsquared2 outlook.

Highlights of the pre-fall ‘21 women’s collection are widely varying in their looks. Bandana printed dresses are presented alongside denim, sweatpants are paired with rock print shirts, leopard prints adorn coats and shirts, layered with argyle knits in earthy tones. A destroyed grey sweatshirt with allover mini crystal appliqué takes the spotlight, while outerwear of trenches and Montgomery coats are constructed from a mixture of fabrics including tweet and camo-printed nylon.

The Dsquared2 Icon capsule makes an appearance, highlighting the new motto and underscoring the collection: “I cannot.” Evening glamor is made for the urban, chic wearer with pageantry-style silhouettes, while mini dresses are adorned with lace or sheer tulle top and sleeves dotted in crystals, plus 1920s-era shimmering capelets. Elsewhere in the collection, denim comes as a daring duo: one one side of the coin, high-waisted with ultra-washed out pale palettes and a curved, tapered silhouette; on the other side, dark with cropped, flared ankles to emphasize the tapered silhouette and bleached out fronts.

The collection also debuts a new monogram for Dsquared2 accessories, a three-dimensional motif appearing on padded nylon belt bags, soft scarves and furry lined clogs. The iconic Dominatrix sandal also makes a reappearance, this time with narrow buckled straps and appliquéd crystal satin stars. Other collection accessories include crystal mountain boots, pointed stilettos with jewel-encrusted heels, brioche-shaped satin mini evening bags and baseball caps with cigarette holders—a collection for the it girl who does not care, who does not follow trends, but instead makes them herself.
