London is a fashion city. Every February and September, the English capital presents some of the fashion world’s biggest weeks. Even just walking down the street, much like in Milan, Tokyo, and New York, Londoners possess an air of intentionality in their style, with immensely chic looks coming from pedestrians and models alike.

Directly culturally connected to the ‘London-style’ is Burberry, a label that has capitalized on the most foundational elements of British fashion. From simple, functional raincoats for the gray, wet weather of England to a now-iconic signature tartan inspired by Scottish kilts, Burberry understands its home very well. Yet, to understand a country is to understand it beyond its capital city. And in their latest campaign, Burberry has chosen to explore the outer reaches of England in “An Escape to the British Countryside.”

Adventure has always been a central doctrine of Burberry, and “An Escape to the British Countryside” continues that theme beautifully. Centering on Moses Martin, son of actress Gwyneth Paltrow and Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, the campaign follows Moses and his friends on a trip outside of the city.

In a newly released video accompanying the campaign, the group drives through rolling green pastures alongside sheep and other wildlife. The video’s soundtrack, composed by Moses’ band ‘People I’ve Met,’ has a nostalgic and optimistic feeling, welcoming any excitement their adventure may bring.

The campaign features a wide selection of garments, bags, and fragrances, all carrying themes of outdoor functionality and natural inspiration. Large backpacks and tote bags, suited for a picnic or a hike, are featured alongside light trench coats and anoraks. To accommodate the changing temperatures of the countryside, layering is evidently encouraged through the collection, with light shirts worn over plaid bikini tops.

Throughout the collection, a noticeable variety of garments is present. Anything from sport dresses, should one find oneself at a tennis court in their travels, to faded denim jackets, to tartan swimwear, to smooth leather loafers, can be found throughout the collection’s look book.
