Emilio Pucci’s 2022 Spring/Summer collection leaves us day-dreaming of a summer holiday. We can smell the sunscreen, taste the salt-rimmed margaritas, feel the chapped lips, even seven months away. This series revisits archival prints from early inspirations, and balances fun-in-the-sun with sleek sophistication.  The collection includes refurbished cropped tops, beachy-frocks, co-ord sets, and breezy dresses.

Pucci sticks to pastels, soft as chalk on the sidewalk. While gravitating towards block colors, we see lemonade bandeau tops and fluttering mini skirts. Hip bones protrude through beaded transparent sheaths. Vaporous scarf dresses of shamrock and lavender knot around necks and ripple down to ankles. Co-ords the color of a chlorinated pool are adorned with seaweed and wavy tropical graphics. Open backs reveal sunkissed spines.

Pale sheer frocks envelope the body, and are paired with feathered cotton-candy blue bags and sandals. Plunging necklines are paired with boxy tailoring. The graphics are placed thoughtfully, as to respect the purity of the Pucci design. The most captivating dress is full-body, adorned with swirling prints of gimlet green, latte brown, and blush, symmetrical as moth wings.

Camille Miceli recently took on her position as creative director this September. Miceli, the LVMH designer at Dior and Louis Vuitton, joined the team after these tropical vacation looks were sealed. Where will the label’s designs take us next? For now, we can bask in the ambiance of a minimalist spring dream.
