Espace Louis Vuitton are the luxury brand’s exhibition spaces found within major cities, including Münich, Tokyo and Seoul. These cultivate conversations around significant artistic works for brief stints in each locale. From now through November 16, the works of Gustave Caillebotte will be on view at Espace Louis Vuitton’s newest location in New York.

Caillebotte was a Parisian Impressionist painter, who joined alongside Claude Monet, Edgar Degas and Auguste Renoir following their famed Salon of 1875 exhibit. Like his counterparts, Caillebotte became known for capturing modern life and bourgeoisie leisure. Specifically, his works capture the growth of Paris, late-nineteenth century menswear and the rise of physical activities, like rowing.

The exhibition features two of Caillebotte’s paintings as a result of the collaboration between Louis Vuitton and two major art institutions. Boating Party is on loan from the Musée d’Orsay and Young Man at Window from The J. Paul Getty Museum.
On October 27, Louis Vuitton hosted a conversation around Caillebotte’s works with Paul Perrin, the Chief Curator at The Musée d’Orsay, Katherine Elizabeth Fleming, the President of the J. Paul Getty Trust and Jean-Paul Claverie, the Administrator of the Foundation Louis Vuitton.
