Ever since Warner Bros released that photo of Margot Robbie – pink car and all – the word Barbie has been on the tip of everyone’s tongue. And for good reason, too – from the minds of co-writers Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, the Mattel-inspired film promises one of the most A-list of A-list casts, explosive dance numbers and candy-colored visuals. But again, what else would be fitting for Barbie

In case you’re in need of a refresher, Barbie stars Margot Robbie as Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, and is being directed by actress-screenwriter-director Greta Gerwig. Other members of the cast include Dua Lipa, Simu Lui, Emma Mackey, America Ferrera, Alexandra Shipp and Connor Swindells, to name a few. Barbie is anticipated to be a comedy meets fantasy film, and will be rated PG-13.

Since the announcement of the hotly anticipated film back in 2019, Barbie’s plot has been infamously kept under wraps – that is until Wednesday’s second teaser trailer was released, giving viewers a further glimpse into director Greta Gerwig’s Barbie Land, cotton candy beaches and all. From the pastel architecture to the saturated colors, the world screams retro, paying homage to the iconic doll’s roots and creating an all-encompassing nostalgia fest with touches of the dolls 60s and 80s inspired style. And while we still don’t know for sure what Gerwig has in store for us, what we do know is this: everyone loves Barbie, her and Ken will leave Barbie Land and every man’s name here is Ken?

So, I guess we actually still don’t know much about the plot. But that doesn’t seem to be much of an issue for fans around the world who have since taken to social media to express their excitement for the film – and their love for the now viral posters that were launched alongside the trailer. For every A-list cast member, a coordinating Barbie-inspired poster was released, complete with a silly tagline and an image of the star in their Barbie Land costume – including Will Ferrell, Issa Rae, Kate McKinnon, Michael Cerra, Helen Mirren, and many, many more. Iconic in their own right, the posters have since sparked a flood of social media memes, with fans photoshopping iconic celebrities and even themselves into Barbie Land.

From what we’ve seen so far, it’s safe to say that Barbie is going to be the movie of the summer. The movie will open in theaters only on July 21st, 2023. We’ll see you there!
