Everything you Need to Know about this Years VMAs

Performers, exciting music videos and more

While everyone has been stuck inside for the past year, entertainment has been a necessary escape, and now it’s time to celebrate it. The VMAs are only a few days away so it’s time to reflect on your Spotify likes from the past year and think about what you should vote for. There have been some groundbreaking videos in the past year from Cardi B’s “Wap” to Lil Nas X’s “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)”. If you are looking forward to all the performances and reflecting back over the music of the past year now is the time. We compiled a guide of everything you need to know about the this year’s VMAs so you won’t miss a thing.

When

This Sunday. It’s September 12 at 8PM EST. If you can’t watch it then you can always watch next week, but that means hiding from ant spoilers you might find online. Why watch something the next day when you can watch it live?

Where

If you already have tickets or you happen to have the connections, you can watch the VMAs where they happen – in the Brooklyn Barclay’s Center. For everyone else, there are tons of options for watching it live. The VMAs always happen live on MTV. But for those who don’t have TVs or don’t have cable (who pays for cable anymore?) there are tons of streaming options. The VMAs are officially streaming live with Paramount+. If you don’t have Paramount+, the show will premier anywhere you can watch live tv including but not limited to Hulu + Live TV, fuboTV, and slingTV.

Host

Doja Cat. Known for bangers like “Kiss Me More (ft. SZA)”, “Say So”, and the iconically confusing song “MOOO!”, Doja Cat is an L.A. born and raised rapper who started releasing music on Soundcloud in her teens. She is the first ever VMA host who also has a video nominated for video of the year.
