Exclusive: Evan Mock Is Always “On The Move”

The skater boy turned television darling chats with V about the power of mobility and his wanderlust spirit

Who isn’t constantly on the go? From our normal work life shifting to more hybrid routines, to holiday trips with loved ones, and even the casual errand we need to take, our bodies are constantly moving, keeping our minds and hearts alert for what’s to come. Dolly Parton said it best in her song “9 to 5”: ’Jump in the shower and the blood starts pumping, out on the street, the traffic starts jumping’—our minds, much like the city that never sleeps, are always ready to take on the day with stride and an adventurous spirit. One being that embodies all of this is Evan Mock, skate aficionado, actor on HBO Max’s Gossip Girl, and our V137 “Gen V” cover star, as luxury house Montblanc tapped Mock to showcase the brand’s newest offerings for the “On The Move” campaign.

Having gone from the sunny shores of Oahu, Hawaii to the bustling blocks of Manhattan, Mock is one of many wonderful examples of new age movement and how navigation has shifted from nonexistent to necessary, with a concentration on the exploration of the outdoors–without ever comprising on style, quality, and performance. Riding around the downtown scene of the city in Montblanc’s new collaborative bike with Martone, and wearing the house’s cross-category collection, Extreme 3.0 and the Summit 3 smartwatch, Evan is undeniably bringing Montblanc’s mission to new levels.

Keeping up with Evan’s life in the fast line, V got to ask the rising star about Montblanc’s latest campaign and how he navigates being on the go.

V Magazine: What was it about Montblanc’s newest campaign that made you interested in getting involved?

Evan Mock: I felt it fit my fast lifestyle of not being able to sit still.

V: With Montblanc’s Summit 3 smartwatch fueling exploration for users everywhere, how does technology as a whole power your navigation with any city you visit in the world?

EM: Game changer!

V: What are some of your favorite memories that you’ve experienced from your recent explorations? Do you prefer to get lost in the locales or have a plan for the next hotspots you visit on your trips?

EM: I have learned to go with the flow and make sure you have an amazing local tour guide. It’s the key to wherever you’re visiting.

V: You’re seen using the Montblanc x Martone bike in the campaign—do you remember your first time learning how to ride a bike? Walk us through that memory a bit.

EM: I’m a quick learner but my earliest memory of riding a bike was going straight off the front of a 20 staircase in my driveway and yelling to my mom that I almost made it to the bottom and trying to air down the stairs straight after the first attempt.

V: Everyone knows a skateboard is practically glued to your feet at all moments. Do you have another favorite and fun way of getting around in the city?

EM: My own two feet are a nice way. It’s the slower pace and allows you to look up and see things you don’t usually notice being on the ground floor.

V: From the shores of Hawaii to the streets of New York, how have the spirit of exploration and the wanderlust feels that travel can bring kept you going in all the places you’ve lived in these last few years?

EM: The aspect of the unknown keeps me intrigued.

V: There’s no denying that you’re always “on the move”—personally, what inspires you to keep going in what you’re doing?

EM: I get bored easily, so I constantly need to keep my brain stimulated. So however and whatever that may be, I will continue to do so.

V: What’s the next move for you? Where do you want to be in the next 5 minutes, 5 months, 5 years?

EM: Enjoying each moment is my only goal at the moment. I have the honor of being alive and surrounded by people who love and care for me.
