Parsons school of design, known or their illustrious alumni including Tom Ford, Anna Sui and Alexander Wang, held their annual MFA Fashion Show. 19 graduating designers showed their collections on the Parsons MFA runway during New York Fashion Week. Some took the direction of reflecting the past two years through their collections, showing scrubs and esencial worker inspired looks. Others took a more abstract approach embracing diversity, fluidity and personal narrative in their collections.

“On display was wild creativity, a plurality of aesthetic possibilities and a deep grounding in designing from narrative and with making practices that heal and transform the world – all exemplifying the teaching and learning happening across our programs in the School of Fashion and at Parsons.” said Ben Barry, Dean of Fashion at Parsons.

The show was produced by the renowned New York design school in partnership with IMG and Beyond8 Productions. Collections included work from the school’s MFA Textiles and MFA Fashion Design and Society programs. Graduates like Marlene Haase, took an innovative approach to repurposing fast fashion materials into something high-fashion. Another standout included the work of Zhiqing Zhang who pulled inspiration from their background as a non-bianary Asian drag queen into their collection. The sheer dress covered in Chinese characters reimagined a classic Asian silhouette. Many of Parson’s newest MFA graduates have already made impressive contributions to fashion showing in publications like DAZED, Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and have been worn by stars LORDE, Halle Bailey and Raveena. The American design school showed what’s next for the future of fashion, here are some of the standout looks we loved.
