Experience the Timelessness of the Velvet Underground on Apple TV+
The streaming service is coming out with Todd Haynes’ latest documentary.

In an exciting cross-section of music and film, director Todd Haynes’s documentary on the Velvet Underground will premiere on Apple TV+.
Haynes previously directed “I’m Not There” the fun and funky music drama in which Cate Blanchett looks surprisingly good as Bob Dylan.
The film will document the creative essence of the band and its long-lasting legacy on music as well as culture. With some exclusive scenes from studio sessions, performances, and a few videos made by Andy Warhol, the documentary will be an artful ode to the rock band.

The band’s members included guitarist, singer, and songwriter, the late yet legendary Lou Reed, German singer Nico, founding member John Cale, with several other talents, and were managed by Warhol, for a short time. A staple of the New York rock scene, The Velvet Underground released five studio albums in the late 1960s and early ’70s, ultimately disbanding in 1996. They were the unofficial house band for Andy Warhol’s studio, The Factory, becoming intertwined with the city’s art scene.
Haynes’ documentary will give us more of an insider glimpse at the iconic band’s interworkings and how they became a cultural and music staple.
A popular time for music documentaries, from the latest release of BLACKPINK’s rise to stardom on Netflix, to Shawn Mendes’ upcoming “In Wonder” doc, Apple TV+ has also obtained the rights to music tales from Bruce Springsteen, Mariah Carey, and Billie Eilish. Plenty to look forward to for our eyes and our ears.
