Extra Butter To Drop Y2K Inspired New Balance 2002R Pack
Cue the nostalgia.
Innovative New York boutique, Extra Butter, is set to release the New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” at both of its NYC locations on Aug. 13 – ahead of its global launch later this month.
Drawing inspiration from the Y2K era, the sneaker pack features the extremely trendy cyber and futuristic aesthetic. The New Balance 2002R’s will be available in three color combinations: Rain Cloud/Magnet, Phantom/Magnet and Sea Salt/Munsell White. Featuring premium hairy suedes and leather/mesh combinations, these shoes give off that pre-distressed chic vibe that has made a huge comeback in recent years.
And this is exactly the aesthetic that Extra Butter tries to cultivate for its customers.
“This NB 2002r model is just an example of new and innovative ways to cater exclusively to our consumer,” said Louis W. Colon III, Senior Vice President of Brand & Business Development at Extra Butter.
These wearable relics are the gift that just keeps on giving for vintage lovers and Y2K style fanatics alike. Looking back at what people thought the future would look like at the time through a fresh, creative lens brings these dated styles into a modern wardrobe. Meaning they are wearable and stylish, yet still evoke that strong sense of nostalgia that has taken over the fashion world.
New Balance’s designer, Yue Wu’s original concept of refined future is brought to life in Extra Butter’s “Refined Future” capsule, featuring the New Balance 2002R alongside alongside private label items including three t-shirt variations, a trucker hat and crew socks — all featuring graphics reminiscent of the dated technology of the Y2K era (see picture below for one of the graphics). Even if the tech is a little outdated (in the best way), who doesn’t love a good late ’90s/early ’00s throwback fit?
The New Balance 2002R “Protection Pack” will launch in stores globally on Aug. 2o. The digital launch will go live on Aug. 14, and can be found at www.extrabutterny.com and on the Extra Butter app.
