Fabergé Taps James Ganh as First ‘Featured Designer’
The capsule encompasses all the vibrant hues of summer.
Fabergé, the high jewelry brand famous for its jeweled Easter egg, just unveiled its first-ever featured designer: London-based Chinese jeweler James Ganh. The house will partner with Ganh for its latest capsule collection, launching in September of this year.
The collection is inspired by nature’s beauty and flair, with vibrant colors that represent summertime’s magnificent floral blooms. The versatility of the pieces, which can be worn throughout the day and dressed up for an elegant nighttime event, allows for unique freedom of expression that goes hand-in-hand with joyous summer moods. Interestingly, the versatility of the collection is further rooted in the element of surprise: earrings can attach to statement drops on necklaces, broaches can become bracelets, and pendants can become rings.
The “Featured Designer” idea was born out of founder Peter Carl Fabergé’s vision to provide a platform to up-and-coming talent in the art jewelry world and giving them the independence to showcase their expertise and characteristic style to the world. Fabergé saw this innovative spirit in Ganh, whose ability and mastery in high-jewelry pieces are clearly reflected in this collection.
After graduating from Central Saint Martins art school in London, Ganh worked for Fabergé for nearly two years, improving his own craftsmanship before bringing his own magnificent pieces to life. “The romantic and loving surprises of Fabergé creations spoke to my heart and inspired my work, and this is evident throughout the new capsule collection,” he said.
Calling himself a “jewel-engineer,” Ganh started his own business in 2014 and soon created a name for himself among his loyal customer base. His collection with Fabergé has managed to take his creativity to a new level, using a diverse number of gemstones with a beautiful color palette of blue, pink and yellow sapphires, emeralds, rubies, tanzanites, aquamarines, diamonds, amethysts, tourmalines, and more. Even pairing unlikely materials, like carved crystal rock, gives this collection a unique elegance.
Selected sets of the Fabergé x James Ganh collection will debut in Fabergé’s boutique in The Galleria Mall, Houston, Texas and Fabergé’s Harrods boutique in September, and will launch later in Fabergé’s boutique in The Dubai Mall and by appointment at showrooms in London and New York. Prices per set range from $74,100 to $1,150,500, while individual pieces range from $33,150 to $317,460.
