As of late, collaborations have taken the fashion world by storm. From buzzy, guest designer partnerships to indie brands teaming up with established powerhouses, the industry is increasingly looking to shared practices as inspiration. Now, luxury retailer FARFETCH is trying its hand at collaboration with the launch of FARFETCH BEAT: a concept retail series bringing together dynamic, forward-thinking voices in the realms of fashion and culture.

The first collaboration in the series is between burgeoning New York label Peter Do and Downtown concept store Opening Ceremony, the latter of which is celebrating its 20th anniversary. Available exclusively on FARFETCH, the release features three takes on Opening Ceremony’s iconic varsity bomber jacket, bridging together two generations of Asian creativity and cultural pride between the two brands’ respective founders.

Two of the three styles from the drop feature Do’s signature ‘spacer’ material in both black and white colorways while the final offering is constructed from upcycled parachute material from Do’s debut runway show. Too, the jackets include a hidden cardholder in each pocket and are presented in one-of-a-kind Opening Ceremony x Peter Do cotton tote bags.

“We had so many vintage military parachutes left over from our first show and I thought it would be nice to repurpose them to give them new life,” Do said in a statement released to V. “I love that the jackets are all different, with the original seams and printed text included. I’m so happy that these jackets will be worn and loved, and that they came from something that was initially meant to be discarded but are now repurposed!”

Also, an accompanying portrait series—lensed by Katsu Naito—showcases figures, friends, and family from the two entities including Opening Ceremony founders Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Peter Do, Christine Sun Kim, Maia Ruth Lee, and more.
